Bishop Marsh

Bishop Marsh is a freelance trumpeter, composer, and educator who currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marsh, as well as performing in other ensembles, has a group that rotates with the likes of Grant Goldstein, Edwin Garcia, Michael Bremo, Logan Gorrell, Mike Cameron, Dean Demerritt, Josh Westbrook, Nathan Eicher, Drew Thomas, Jordan Hehl, Chad Henderson, as well as a number of other musicians from the Tulsa and Oklahoma City area.

Marsh has studied and performed with notable musicians and groups such as the Aaron Diehl Trio, which is the current rhythm section for vocalist Cecile Mclorin Salvant, Machito’s former percussionist Frank Valdes, Dizzy Gillespie’s former drummer Washington Rucker, trumpeter Carlos Abadie, saxophonist Vincent Herring, and trombonist Frank Lacy.

In addition to playing in the local Tulsa music scene, he is a graduate  Booker T Washington High School, the Alma mater of famous musicians such as Wayman Tisdale and currently attends the University of Tulsa.

Marsh performs with several different jazz groups, including 7 Blue, Mike Cameron Collective, as well as the youth ensemble T-Town Jazz Sound. Marsh also plays in a number of different musical scenarios, including the Afro beat band Count Tutu, Multiphonic Funk, and bassist Edwin Garcia’s Latin Ensemble Mezclave. Also, Marsh co-leads the Brady Street Co Op with young saxophonist Adrian Severino every 2nd and 4th friday at the downtown Tulsa location of coffee and tea shop All About Cha, featuring a number of the young lions on the Tulsa scene.
