Multiphonic Funk, Tulsa’s premiere party band, is one that is difficult to put in one genre. While Funk is in the name, the band spans several genres, R&B, Soul, Rock, and Jazz. We like to sum all of that up in a genre we call: Party Funk.

We are all about pleasing the audience and making their experience one that they will not forget. Earth Wind & Fire is the Band’s biggest influence, and this show is a loving tribute to that incredible band! Boogie Wonderland: An EWF Tribute Concert will remind you of all the classics while capturing the distinct style of the funk soul supergroup!

Multiphonic Funk’s Incredible, Phenomenal, Spectacular Album Fundraising Party !

This is going to be an incredible show featuring amazing originals, covers by artists such as Prince, Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Tower of Power, Paul Mccartney, and more. Weston Horn will be opening the show with a short acoustic set, then Multiphonic Funk is on at 9:30! Most importantly, we will be using the cover from the door, as well as the sales of our new t-shirts to fund our full length studio album coming out in early 2019! We will also be taking donations! May the funk be with you all!

Multiphonic Funk, who’s genre is a fusion between funk and jazz, is made up of a group of friends from the Tulsa area that formed in January of 2016 and has been thriving ever since. “We implement elements of jazz into our funk via the form of the tunes and the melodies, but the time, feel, style, and improvisations are all very heavily funk influenced” says Drew Thomas who is the band leader, main arranger/writer and also the saxophonist in the band.

Soul City is a unique Dining and Nightlife experience unlike any other in Tulsa! Capturing the heart and vibe of the local music scene in Tulsa and pairing it with great food and craft drinks, Soul City provides the music and art lover with an experience you’ll want again and again.

Darell Christopher and the Ingredients Bringing the Blues to Soul City!

Darell has enjoyed great success touring Europe with his band as a singer in Gospel, R&B and Jazz. In addition to his success as a singer, Darell has also received high praise for his acting and public speaking.

Darell says his music can best be described as “Soul Music”, a combination of Gospel, Jazz, and Rhythm and Blues. He describes himself as a “Frontman”. Darell attributes his singing style to growing up in the church singing Gospel music in the accapella tradition and to his mother who had a successful, but brief, career as a Jazz singer.

Darell Christopher and The Ingredients won the 12th Annual Blues Challenge at Cain’s Ballroom on September 5, 2015. The Annual Blues Challenge is sponsored by the Blues Society of Tulsa and features some of the best Blues bands in the Tulsa Metropolitan area. The year before Darell Christopher and The Ingredients competed in the Blues Challenge for the first time and won the 2nd place prize. However, in 2015 all of their hard work and preparation paid off.

As winners of the Blues Challenge, Darell Christopher and The Ingredients represented Tulsa, Oklahoma at the 32nd International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.

Multiphonic Funk Performing Snarky Puppy Tribute Concert at Soul City Friday December 9th, 2016

Multiphonic Funk presents a concert exclusively of music by the band Snarky Puppy.

Snarky Puppy is a collective of sorts with as many as 25 members in regular rotation. They each maintain busy schedules as sidemen (with such artists as Erykah Badu, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and D’Angelo), producers (for Kirk Franklin, David Crosby, and Salif Keïta), and solo artists (many of whom are on the band’s indy label, GroundUP Music).

At its core, the band represents the convergence of both black and white American music culture with various accents from around the world. Japan, Argentina, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Puerto Rico all have representation in the group’s membership. But more than the cultural diversity of the individual players, the defining characteristic of Snarky Puppy’s music is the joy of performing together in the perpetual push to grow creatively.
