Jeff Sorrell Cancer Benefit Dinner & Concert Featuring Little Joe McLerran Friday October 12th!

Help Someone In Need and Have a Good Time Doing It!

The City of Collinsville along with support from the Collinsville Masonic Lodge #165 will be hosting a BBQ, Blues, Benefit for city employee Jeff Sorrell on Friday, October 12, 2018.  Jeff has been diagnosed with cancer for the third time and is struggling with the financial burdens that accompany such a diagnosis.  Jeff is only about half way through his journey and will have surgery coming up in November to remove remaining cancer cells.

The food for the event will be provided by Buffalo’s BBQ who is the most awarded BBQ Pit Master in the state of Oklahoma.  Tickets for the evening will include a sit down served dinner and concert by world renown Blue Artist, Little Joe McLerran**.  Little Joe will be accompanied by his father Robbie Mack.  The benefit will take place in the City Plaza and will be by ticket only.  Tickets are available online for $40 at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/jeff-sorrell-blues-bbq-benefit-tickets-50505822274 .

Back Alley BBQ Cookoff w/ a Side of Blues!

Backyard barbeque masters, as well as, competitive cooking teams from all over Green Country will work to perfect the thrill of the grill at the 2nd Annual Back Alley BBQ Cook-Off in historic downtown Collinsville on October 18th.

Coordinated by Collinsville Downtown, Inc. as a fundraiser for the downtown revitalization organization, the Back Alley BBQ hopes to bring 20 plus teams to Collinsville to compete for money and bragging rights. This non-sanctioned event is open to anyone wishing to compete no matter what their experience level.

Back Alley BBQ CookoffRibbons will be given to the 1st, 2nd, & 3rd places in each category and one Best All Around will be chosen from all BBQ categories and will receive a $500 cash prize and a trophy. Adding to the excitement of the BBQ competition, a Gourmet Burger competition has been added this year. This first year competition hopes to fire up the creative juices of local chefs to dream up unusual burgers that look and taste great. The Gourmet Burger Competition will be proof that not all burgers are created equal. Winner of the Gourmet Burger Competition will receive a $250 cash prize, as well as a trophy.

The Feed Store will be the Premier Sponsor for this event but additional sponsorship opportunities are still available to any businesses or individuals who would like to be a part of this event concept pairing the enthusiasm of barbeque cooking with the new found popularity of our downtown shopping district.

Back Alley BBQ Cook-Off

The event will be free to the public, and those wishing to purchase a “Tasting Kit” for only $10 will be able to sample the wares of those competing and vote for the People Choice Award for their favorite entries.

The site of the cook-off, will be as the name represents, off of Main Street, as to not disrupt downtown shopping activities taking place. Event organizers will be using the City Plaza and surrounding parking areas and even space provided by the back allies of downtown Collinsville.

Taste of Collinsville Bringing Jazz Greats to Main Street

13th Annual Event to Feature Regions Greats Jazz Musicians

 

Collinsville, Oklahoma:  This year’s Taste of Collinsville fundraising event has taken yet another new twist this year.  This year’s event titled the 13th Annual Taste of Collinsville – “A Little Bit of Food and ALL THAT JAZZ” will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2014, from 5:30 – 8:00 in the evening.  Collinsville Downtown, Inc. is pleased to announce the partnership with Tulsa Jazz, OKC Jazz and the Tulsa Jazz Group, the largest promoters of Jazz in the area in order to bring the greatest jazz musicians in the region to play on Main Street. The musicians will be stationed along the three-block corridor from 12th to 9th Street, entertaining patrons to who will also be sampling signature dishes from some of the area’s finest eateries.  Main Street Merchants will play host to notable restaurants such as Olive Garden, Logan’s Roadhouse and Wings To Go, to name just a few.  Collinsville restaurants will also be showcased at the event.  The event is an exciting way to introduce the public to all of the great Collinsville businesses who may have otherwise gone unnoticed.  Local favorite Silver Dollar Café will be filling a souvenir cup with your favorite non-alcoholic beverage for the evening.

“It seems as if each year we try to come up with a new idea that will out do what we did the last year.  I think we’ve done it again this year by bringing Jazz to Main Street for the 13th Annual Taste of Collinsville.”  Said C.D.I. Board President and Promotion Chairperson, Sherry Campbell.  “I have a feeling this years event will go down in Collinsville event history!”

Along with great music and delicious food, ticket holders will also be able to engage in a musical scavenger hunt.  There will be several jazz instruments placed among the Main Street Merchants for patrons to find and record in order to be entered into a Grand Prize Drawing at the end of the night.  The Grand Prize is valued at over $800 consisting of gifts donated by all participating merchants and area restaurants.

 

Those wishing to attend this year’s event would be wise to order tickets online, as there are only a limited number of tickets available.  Tickets can be purchased online from now until the morning of the event on September 18 at http://www.collinsvillegowntowninc.com/taste2014.htm.  Tickets ordered online can be picked up at the event at the will call table or in the C.D.I. office after September 4.   Beginning September 5, Collinsville banks including Premier sponsor RCB Bank; along with V.I.P. sponsor American Bank of Oklahoma and Valley National Bank will be selling tickets in their businesses.  Tickets may also be purchase at the C.D.I. office located on the northeast corner of 12th and Main.  Cost of this year’s tickets are as follows, individuals $12 each, seniors (65+) $9, couples $20, and a family of four (2 adults & 2 children 12 and under) for $25.  Members of the Main Street organization will receive a discount when purchasing tickets at the Main Street Office.
