Tulsa Glassblowing School:
Located in the heart of the Brady Arts District, Tulsa Glassblowing School was founded in 2007 and provides an open access hotshop and kiln studio offering unique experiences for anyone interested in the beauty of glass art.
From the novice to the skilled glass artist, TGS provides an outlet for cretivity, teamwork and self-expression. Opportunities to work with hotglass first hand range from one time experiences to multi-week classes to private lessons. Working with area youth drives our mission offering a chance for kids to explore an age old art form.
Tulsa Jazz Gives Back:
Tulsa Jazz Gives Back is a program started in 2014 by Tulsa Jazz to bring worldclass music and musicians to Senior Centers and Retirement Communities around the Tulsa area at no charge to the facility. The music of Ella Fitzgearld, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, The Rat Pack, Chet Baker, Bessie Smith, Sarah Vaughan, and many others that the residents grew up listening to and loving but don’t get to hear played live in the authentic fashion often, if at all.
Additionaly these facilities usually can’t afford this level of entertainment for their residents, so this is where our program steps in. Tulsa Jazz Gives Back takes care of all the shows expenses including promotion assistance for the on-site Activities Director and provides the residents and the facility with an unforgetable musical experience.
**International Jazz Day is the culmination of Jazz Appreciation Month, which draws public attention to jazz and its extraordinary heritage throughout April.
In December 2012, the United Nations General Assembly formally welcomed the decision by the UNESCO General Conference to proclaim April 30 as International Jazz Day.
The United Nations and UNESCO now both recognize International Jazz Day on their official calendars.” (Taken from jazzday.com)
