Booker Gillespie began his singing career at Cascia Hall Preparatory School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He then went on to sing with the Oklahoma State University Concert Chorale led by Dr. Jerry McCoy and the OSU Jazz Ensemble led by Dr. Tom Walker.
His musical / acting career began in 1987 with the musical “Hair” and continued with shows such as “Night Of The Iguana” , “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” , “The King and I” , “Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me” , “Blue” , and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” with Sam Harris. Singing six seasons with the Tulsa Opera Chorus, he performed in “Aida” , “The Magic Flute” , “Rigoletto” , and “Turandot” .
Winner of Tulsa Idol in 2003, Booker has performed on numerous occasions at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall Of Fame and on stages in New Orleans, Florida, Hawaii and Krakow, Poland where he was the featured singer invited by former Signature Symphony at TCC Conductor and Artistic Director Dr. Barry Epperley. He currently works as a clerk with the Tulsa law firm Doerner, Saunders, Daniel and Anderson.
