Saying Ciao’ to Ciao’!…again.

I am sitting here on a Sunday night thinking that just a few years ago, on a night like this, I might have been in Ciao’ listening to some fabulous music and eating some great food in this really cool place. Below is a post done on this website in 2012 shortly after Ciao’ closed it’s doors, when this happened we were a young company that really didn’t know what we were doing but we loved Jazz and the people who made it and we were destined to make a difference. It’s 5 years later, we’re still chasing our passion and hopefully making a difference but most of all…still missing Ciao’.

Enjoy the original post below:

This is a very sad post for me to write, Ciao’ on Brookside in Tulsa  OK, closed it’s doors for the last time October 15, 2012.

I sat in The Primo Room the night before listening to the wonderful Janet Rutland sing, having no idea that it would be the last time there. The impact of this is enormous  especially since they played such a major role and invested so much into Tulsa and it’s jazz community.

For example: Ciao’ was one of the few, if not only, place locally that offered live jazz every weekend night which was free and open to the public. Not only that but it was a paid gig for the performing artists and they dedicated an entire wing of the restaurant to jazz and live music. That’s quite a commitment!

If you never had the pleasure of visiting or dining there here is a taste of what you missed, the following was taken from their website:

Ciao Baby! In Italian it means “Hello!”

In Brookside it means great food, wine,

 music & service.

“Ciao features classic Italian favorites like Veal Piccata, Chicken Marsala, handmade pizzas or a variety of authentic home-made regional pastas, fresh seafood, perfectly grilled steaks, handmade desserts, and artisanal bread baked fresh every day.

You can also savor original recipes like the Handmade Lobster Raviolis in a

Lemon Cream Sauce or Warm Balsamic Strawberries topped with a sweet Mascarpone Cream.

Many courses may be ordered as full or half portions, allowing you to create a menu to suit your taste

and appetite.

Weekly menu specials offer even more variety to your dining options.ciao dining room

Variety also extends to your choice of where to dine. Ciao offers full service in the main dining room, at the snazzy red leather topped bar or dine al fresco at

one of the outdoor tables. You can even reserve one

of our private rooms for your next dinner.

The Secundo Room seats up to sixteen guests and

the Primo Room can accommodate up to fifty guests

and has its own private bar!”

Sounds delicious, doesn’t it?  That’s because it was!

Equally delicious was the music coming from the Primo Room on the weekends! It was a veritable who’s who of local, national and international artists , here is the final line up of artists that were scheduled to perform in October 2012:

Tulsa has not been the same without Ciao’, the wonderful moments, friendships, and incredible music that was made there can never and will never be duplicated.

Thank you Ciao’ for being a part of our lives, you maybe be gone but you will never be forgotten.

May jazz continually enrich your life,

John Taylor

**Janet Rutland was the last performer at Ciao’ , the remaining shows were cancelled due to their immediate closing.
