Edward L. “Ed” Goodwin Jr., retired publisher of the Oklahoma Eagle newspaper, died Friday July 25, 2014. He was 78.

There aren’t enough words to describe the impact Ed Goodwin’s life has had on many of us here in Tulsa. He was a warm, kind and giving person who was always willing to share his vast knowledge and life experience with anyone that would take the time to listen.  Ed was “living, walking, history” and the information he shared was priceless.

Ed loved music and was an avid supporter of jazz and local jazz artists, you would see Ed’s smiling face and here that gravely voice on any given night at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame and other venues around the city. Our community will not be the same without you Ed but we are all better off because you shared your life with us.

We shall truly miss you my friend…God bless you Ed.

    • Hi Greg,
This is John Taylor owner of Tulsa Jazz, which is not affiliated with the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. Your Dad meant the world to me and yes he was much more than the Jazz
Hall. I am not sure what you are trying so say by your statement but your Dad loved people and he loved Jazz, I learned a lot from him and he will always have a special place in my life. I loved him like a brother and a Dad at the same time, he was one of the most genuine people I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. I was at the funeral and had to leave directly after but I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
Thanks for reaching out and expressing youself, it is greatly appreciated , hopefully one day we will get to meet in person

      Sincerely,

      John Taylor
