If you mention local jazz singers Cynthia Simmons name will likely come up somewhere during the conversation but If you mention the Rose District one might have to think just a bit. Main Street in Broken Arrow’s historic downtown is being revitalized and the progress is very exciting, here is an excerpt from the Rose District’s website describing this wonderful gem in our community:

“Early civic leaders saw the need to beautify the city’s original landscape of sparse prairie land and called on residents to adorn it with bushes, trees and flowers. Rose bushes were a popular choice and soon travelers nicknamed Broken Arrow the “City of Roses.”

Today, civic leaders are once again transforming the landscape by reviving the historic downtown area to breathe new life into the heart of Broken Arrow and return it to a gathering place for all residents.”

Main St. Tavern is part of this revitalization and provides a wonderful venue for families to enjoy good food, good atmosphere, and good music. Every Thursday from 6:00-9:00 pm is Jazz and Wine Night and this week showcases Cynthia, if you’ve  been to one of her shows and heard her velvety smooth voice, you know it’s going to be a special evening.

Reservations are suggested for the June 11th show, but not required, please let them know how much you appreciate Jazz and Wine Night and their continued support of local Jazz artists like Cynthia Simmons.
