Sweet & Hot Salutes the Troops on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
Veterans and active duty military and reservists will be admitted to this Friday’s Sweet
& Hot Salutes the Troops Dance at the Depot for half-price, or $5. The gals of Sweet
& Hot Productions will present Boogie-Woogie Bugle Boy, God Bless America and other war-era tunes during the Dec. 7th dance.
“It’s our regular first Friday dance,” said Cindy Cain. “But, because it falls on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, we wanted to honor, in some way, those who have served our country and made personal sacrifices to protect our freedoms. Offering half-price admission is our way of saying , thank you.”
Doors open at 7:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, 111 East First Street. Cain, Pam Van Dyke, and Rebecca Ungerman – backed by a sizzling four-piece band – will kick things off at 7:30.
Folks of all ages will waltz, rhumba, cha-cha, swing dance and more as the Jazz Depot is again transformed into a classic dance hall of the 1950’s replete with wooden dance floor.
Regular admission is $10. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase. For advance ticketing, call 918.281.8609 .
Hope very much to see you there,
P.S. Save the date Sunday, Dec. 16th, 5 p.m. for my show, “Comes Love,” at the Jazz Hall of Fame and featuring special guest Brett Yeakey, who will sing solo and with whom I’ll also duet. Songs of love, lost love, desired love with a sprinkling of holiday tunes on top.
P.P.S. Thank you to everyone who donated to our November food drive benefiting the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma. I haven’t heard back from them yet as to how many pounds of food were in our box, but I can tell you we raised $115 in cash donations.
